At a meeting of the Coordination Council on Monday, February 28, 2022, the heads of Ukrainian parliamentary factions and groups endorsed a statement to deprive the Russian Federation of a seat as a permanent member in the United Nations (UN) Security Council and all special institutions.
The relevant statement was made by Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk on his Facebook page, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“To deprive Russia of a seat as a permanent member in the UN Security Council, exclude Russia from the UN and all other special institutions. This statement has been endorsed by all heads of parliamentary factions and groups at a meeting of the Coordination Council,” Stefanchuk wrote.
In his words, in the course of the meeting, the participants also discussed initiating a UN peacekeeping operation to maintain peace across Ukraine according to the decision of the UN Security Council.
In the near future, members of Parliament are also planning to develop a draft bill on the seizure of Russian-owned assets, which are located on the territory of Ukraine.
A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war.
