The Netherlands welcomes more than 21,000 refugees from Ukraine

More than 21,000 Ukrainians fleeing Russia's war in Ukraine have been officially received in the Netherlands.

That’s according to NOS, as reported by Ukrinform.

"So far, the Netherlands has received more than 21,000 Ukrainians, according to the Ministry of Justice and Security. However, the actual figure is probably higher, because there are people who take care of Ukrainians at home purely at their own expense," the statement said.

Authorities are urging all Ukrainians who have been forced to flee their homes and are currently in the Netherlands to officially register so that they can receive assistance.

As reported, a large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing since February 24. The invaders have been destroying infrastructure and massively shelling residential areas, killing Ukrainian civilians, using artillery, rockets, and ballistic missiles, as well as dropping bombs.

According to the UN, since the beginning of the war, nearly 4 million people have crossed out of Ukraine, while another 6.5 million Ukrainians have become internally displaced persons. At the same time, 13 million citizens are unable to flee the war zones.
