Zelensky, Biden agree to enhance Russia sanctions
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden in a phone call on Wednesday reached an agreement to further toughen Russia sanctions.
Zelensky announced this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.
"Continued constant dialogue with the POTUS. Assessed Russian war crimes. Discussed additional package of defensive and possible macro-financial aid to Ukraine. Agreed to enhance sanctions,” reads Zelensky’s tweet.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden on April 13 prolonged the national emergency for a year due to malicious activities of the Russian government. This automatically extends sanctions that the White House earlier imposed on Russia.
