G7 Ambassadors meet with First Deputy Director of NABU

The G7 Ambassadors met with Gizo Uglava, First Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, who took over the duties of the NABU Director on April 17.

“Ambassadors were pleased to meet with NABU Acting Head Gizo Uglava for a productive exchange on NABU’s activity in wartime,” the German Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors’ Support Group for Ukraine posted on Twitter.

The fight against corruption increases Ukraine's resilience, G7 Ambassadors noted.

“Ambassadors support protection of NABU's institutional independence under martial law,” reads the statement.

On April 17, Gizo Uglava, First Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, took over the duties of the NABU Director due to the termination of powers of NABU Director Artem Sytnyk.

On April 12, the Cabinet voted to remove Sytnyk from office as his seven-year tenure ended.

According to NABU data, Sytnyk's tenure ended on April 16.

Sytnyk held the office of the NABU Director since April 16, 2015.
