Ukraine proposes China become guarantor of its security - Kuleba

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukraine offered China to become one of the guarantors of its security.

According to Ukrinform, Kuleba said this in an interview with the Chinese state agency Xinhua.

According to the diplomat, Ukraine is currently studying obtaining security guarantees from permanent members of the UN Security Council and other major powers, including China.

"Ukraine is currently studying the possibility of securing security assurances from permanent members of the UN Security Council, including China, and other major powers. Our proposal for China to be one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security is a sign of our respect and trust in the People's Republic of China," Kuleba said.

He said he was convinced that the Chinese side does not want the situation in Ukraine to develop as it is now. According to him, Russia's war against Ukraine is not in China's interests, because the global food crisis and economic problems caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine pose a serious threat to China's economy. Kuleba said that if Russia is not stopped now, "it will cause more crises in a few years."

"China's responsible position is not to pursue geopolitical purposes and not add fuel to the fire in Russia's war against Ukraine," he added.
