WHO chief arrives in Ukraine
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has arrived in Ukraine.
The relevant statement was made by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Arrived in Ukraine. As a child of war, I know how children and adults trapped in this war feel,” Ghebreyesus wrote.
In the course of the visit, Ghebreyesus wants to assess how the WHO can increase its support to the Ukrainian children and adults, affected by the war.
“I will also meet our staff here – they are doing tremendous work under extremely difficult circumstances,” Ghebreyesus added.
A reminder that, on May 5, 2022, at the International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine in Warsaw, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted that the WHO had already delivered more than 316 tonnes of medical supplies to Ukraine.
