New U.S. ambassador to Ukraine arrives in Kyiv

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink has arrived in the city of Kyiv to start her mission as the head of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ambassador Brink was nominated by President Biden to be U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine on April 25, 2022, confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate on May 18, 2022, and arrived in Kyiv on May 29, 2022,” the report states.

Earlier, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova announced that the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington issued a Ukrainian visa for Bridget Brink to head the U.S. diplomatic mission in Kyiv.

“Ukraine has always had the best leaders of the American diplomatic mission who were not only highly professional diplomats but also wonderful people and examples of public service. And this time is no exception!” Markarova noted.

A reminder that Bridget Brink served as U.S. Ambassador to the Slovak Republic from August 15, 2019, until her confirmation as Ambassador to Ukraine. As Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine started, Brink visited the Slovak-Ukrainian border to monitor the admission of Ukrainian refugees and the provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
