U.S. Ambassador Brink visits war-torn Hostomel air field
Newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget A. Brink made a visit to the Hostomel air field near Kyiv, one of the sites of fierce fighting at the onset of Russian invasion.
That’s according to the ambassador’s tweet, seen by Ukrinform.
“My first trip outside Kyiv was to Hostomel air field, where Ukrainian soldiers fought and won one of the first major battles in the war. My thoughts are in the Donbas, where the fight is critical right now,” the ambassador tweeted.
As Ukrinform reported, on May 30, U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink presented her credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
On May 29, Brink arrived in Kyiv to begin her mission as head of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
She previously headed the U.S. Embassy in the Slovak Republic. After Russia's armed invasion of Ukraine, she personally traveled to the Slovak-Ukrainian border to inspect and monitor the reception of Ukrainian refugees and provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
