EU eases sanctions on Russia without any explanations – Podolyak
The Council of the European Union has in no way explained the removal of the blockage of cloud services for Russia from the sanctions list.
“At first, the EU Council announces the blockage of Russia from EU’s cloud services in the Sixth Sanction Package. Then, the EU Council edits the message, removing these references. No clarifications or explanations from the officials,” Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the Office of President of Ukraine, posted on Twitter.
“We must increase the sanctions pressure, not decrease,” he stressed.
As reported, on June 3, information about new sanctions against Russia, in particular regarding consulting services, including cloud services, was published on the website of the Council.
Subsequently, the mention of cloud technology restrictions was removed from the press release on the approval of the sixth package of sanctions against Russia on the website of the Council of EU.
The sixth sanctions package also includes oil embargo, cutting off several more banks from SWIFT, suspension of Russian state television broadcasting, and personal restrictive measures.
