Zelensky addresses NATO summit: Russia must be isolated

Russia must be isolated. It must not be present in the international bodies that it wants to destroy.

"Russia must be isolated. It must not be present in the international bodies that it wants to destroy. There must be no dialogues that do not make sense until it starts looking for that dialogue. It [Russia] must seek a dialogue itself and, therefore, seek peace. And, for the sake of peace, the understanding of NATO 's eastern flank must be reconsidered," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said, addressing the participants in the NATO Summit in Madrid.

Ukraine needs security guarantees, so a place for Ukraine in the common security space should be found, he stressed.

"NATO's open door policy should not resemble the old ticket barriers in Kyiv underground: they are open, and when you approach, they close up until you pay. Has Ukraine not paid enough yet? Is our contribution to the defense of Europe and the whole civilization still insufficient? What else is needed?" the President emphasized.

NATO summit takes place in Madrid on 28-30 June. The Heads of State and Government consider the ways to strengthen deterrence and defense policies and to develop the Alliance's defense capabilities in the new security situation that has emerged since Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
