Norway to provide EUR 1B in aid to Ukraine

Norway will provide a EUR 1 billion aid package to Ukraine by the end of this year and throughout the next year.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Friday, July 1, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

He said he had arrived in Kyiv to announce Norway's support for Ukraine and its people. He added that Norway would provide EUR 1 billion to help people in need and support measures to rebuild Ukraine.

Støre said that this war is a violation of international law and its basic principles.

He said that Ukrainians have the absolute right to defend themselves and "we have the right to help you defend yourself, and we will use this right."

On June 29, the Norwegian government decided to transfer to Ukraine, with the help of the United Kingdom, three M270 multiple rocket launchers and 5,000 155mm shells.
