EU has not yet agreed on seventh package of sanctions against Russia - Swedish PM
The European Union has not yet reached an agreement on the content of the seventh package of sanctions against Russia or on the date for its adoption.
Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
She said that Sweden is ready to adopt new packages of sanctions against Russia. Commenting on whether this can be done before the summer vacation, she said that there are different opinions in the European Union on this matter. Andersson emphasized the importance of fully implementing these sanctions, so that there were no loopholes to contravene them.
She noted that Sweden is ready to include an embargo on the purchase of natural gas from Russia in the seventh sanctions package. She added that Sweden does not depend on Russian gas, whereas other countries have different circumstances.
On June 3, the EU adopted the sixth package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. Ukraine is also working with the European Union on the seventh package of sanctions against Russia.
