Zelensky, Erdoğan discuss unblocking ports, grain exports
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the importance of unblocking Ukrainian ports and resuming grain exports with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“Held talks with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Thanked for condolences over new civilian victims of the Russian aggression. We appreciate Turkish support. Discussed the importance of unblocking Ukrainian ports and resuming grain exports. We must also prevent Russia from taking our grain from TOT [temporarily occupied territories],” Zelensky posted on Twitter.
On February 24, Russia launched the full-scale war against Ukraine. As a result of the aggression, more than 20 million tonnes of grain destined for export have stuck in the Ukrainian ports. This poses a threat of global famine since almost half of the World Food Program's wheat supplies come from Ukraine.
