Kuleba signs motion to appoint Venediktova as Ukraine's ambassador to Switzerland
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has signed a motion to President Volodymyr Zelensky for the appointment of former Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova as Ukraine's ambassador to Switzerland.
He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Yes, I signed the motion for the appointment of Ms. Venediktova as ambassador to Switzerland," he said.
Kuleba said that the practice of appointing politicians to diplomatic posts has always existed in all countries, as "an influx of fresh blood, fresh thoughts and views is needed."
The Verkhovna Rada on July 19 voted to dismiss Venediktova as Ukraine's prosecutor general.
David Arakhamia, the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, said that Venediktova could be appointed to a diplomatic post in the near future.
Media outlets earlier reported that Venediktova could become Ukraine's ambassador to Switzerland.
