President Zelensky to Pope Francis: Ukraine needs support of world spiritual leaders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with Pope Francis and told him about Russia’s aggression and terrible crimes against the Ukrainian people.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Talked to Pope Francis. Briefed him on the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine, its horrible crimes. Grateful to the pontiff for his prayers for Ukraine. Our people need support of world spiritual leaders who should convey to the world the truth about acts of horror committed by the aggressor in Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.

A reminder that, on August 6, 2022, Pope Francis met with Ambassador of Ukraine to the Vatican Andrii Yurash. In particular, they discussed the pontiff’s possible visit to Ukraine before his scheduled trip to Kazakhstan in September 2022.
