Yermak, RWCHR representatives discuss support for Ukraine
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has met with the representatives of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights (RWCHR), which was founded by human rights defender Irwin Cotler, and discussed with them support for Ukraine.
The relevant statement was made by the Office of the President of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The RWCHR is a unique international consortium of parliamentarians, scholars, jurists, human rights defenders, representatives of NGOs and students united in the pursuit of justice.
Yermak briefed the RWCHR representatives on the struggle of Ukrainians for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the mechanisms used by the country to support this struggle on the part of the world community.
The Head of the Office of the President highly praised the work of the RWCHR and their expert report, ‘An Independent Legal Analysis of the Russian Federation’s Breaches of the Genocide Convention in Ukraine and the Duty to Prevent’.
“Russia is committing genocide in Ukraine against the Ukrainian nation, in particular by inciting it in the Russian mass media, forcibly deporting children and killing Ukrainians,” Yermak said.
In his words, the international community must condemn the genocide of Ukrainians and bring all those responsible to justice.
Yermak emphasized the importance of recognizing Russia as a terrorist state, establishing a tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine and crimes against prisoners of war.
According to Yermak, important qualitative changes and development are waiting for Ukraine after it wins the war, so the global support will be extremely relevant.
In this regard, RWCHR Chair Jay Rosenzweig noted that the donors of their foundation are interested in helping Ukraine, namely in terms of reconstruction.
Yermak also urged the RWCHR representatives to join the UNITED24 global platform to help Ukraine and support the events taking place at the initiative of First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, i.e. participate in them personally and involve famous people.
