U.S. will never recognize Russian claims on Ukraine - Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden has said the United States will never recognize Russia's claims on Ukraine's sovereign territory and will introduce new sanctions against Moscow once it annexes new areas of Ukraine.

That's according to Reuters, Ukrinform reports.

Speaking to Pacific island leaders, Biden denounced pseudo-referendums that pro-Russian forces conducted in areas of Ukraine as an "absolute sham," saying the results were "manufactured in Moscow."

"The United States, I want to be very clear about this, United States will never, never, never recognize Russia's claims on Ukraine's sovereign territory," Biden said.

He also noted that "Russia's assault on Ukraine in pursuit of imperial ambitions is a flagrant, flagrant violation of the UN Charter, and the basic principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity."

The U.S. Senate on September 29 passed a financial bill envisaging $12 billion in aid for Ukraine.
