MFA Iran spox says backs Ukraine’s territorial integrity
Iran stresses the need for fully observing countries’ territorial integrity as a fundamental rule of international law and for respecting principles and goals of the UN Charter.
That’s according to Naser Kanaani, the spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry, who commented on the “accession” of captured Ukrainian territories to Russia, Ukrinform reports citing IRNA.
Iran backs any efforts aimed at peacefully resolving the Ukraine conflict and has always announced its readiness to help achieve such a solution, Kanaani said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its basic principles, stresses the need for fully observing countries’ territorial integrity as a fundamental rule of international law and for respecting principles and goals of the UN Charter,” said the spox.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russian forces have intensified the attacks on Ukrainian targets, employing the Shahed-136 kamikaze drones, produced by Iran.
TheMinistry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has informed Iran’s charge d’affairs in Ukraine on its decision to revoke the accreditation of the Iranian ambassador and cut the number of the country’s diplomatic corps in Ukraine over the exposed facts of Russian forces using Iranian-made weapons in the ongoing war on Ukrainian soil.
