Grain initiative shows that world can counter Russian blackmail – President
Due to the grain corridor, it became possible to avoid the aggravation of the food crisis in the world.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his video address to the nation, Ukrinform reports.
“It was the example of the grain export initiative by which we showed that the world is capable of guaranteeing stability despite any threats posed by Russia. The world did not succumb to Russian blackmail, key actors acted decisively, and as a result, the aggravation of the food crisis was avoided. This is one of the most significant international results of the entire autumn. When the world is united, terrorists stand no chance,” Zelensky said.
According to the President, over the past week, 28 vessels carrying more than 800,000 tonnes of foodstuffs left the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi. The destinations are Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Oman, Turkey, China and Ethiopia.
As Ukrinform reported, on October 29, the Russian Federation announced its withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, justifying its decision by an alleged attack on ships of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol Bay. Russia accused Ukraine and the United Kingdom of carrying out the attack. However, despite Russia’s declaration, the movement of grain ships continued.
On November 2, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced about the resumption of the "grain corridor".
