Ukraine's human rights commissioner, Turkey's ambassador discuss rights of Ukrainians affected by Russia

Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets and Turkey's Ambassador to Ukraine Yağmur Ahmet Güldere have discussed the observance of the rights of Ukrainians affected by Russia.

Lubinets said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

He thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Turkey's position and efforts as an ally and mediator between Ukraine and Russia in this war.

"As the human rights commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I spoke about the human rights situation amid Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine," Lubinets said.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the topic of ensuring the observance of the rights of Ukrainians detained in Russia and in temporarily occupied territories.

Both parties discussed the issue of ensuring Russia's implementation of the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War and ensuring the rights of Ukrainian citizens affected by Russian aggression. They also touched on the issue of observing the rights of Ukrainian citizens in Turkey.

Lubinets and Güldere agreed on information exchange and further cooperation.
