Ukraine proposes excluding Russia from G20
The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has proposed that the Group of 20 exclude the Russian Federation from its membership.
According to Yaroslav Zhelezniak, an MP from the Holos faction in parliament, 310 MPs supported Resolution No. 8203, entitled "On the address of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the countries of the Group of Twenty regarding the exclusion of the Russian Federation from the composition of this group," Ukrinform reports.
According to the document, the Ukrainian parliament appeals to the G20 states with a proposal to exclude Russia from its membership, as it does not meet the goals and principles of the association.
The Verkhovna Rada asks the G20 to resolutely call on the Russian Federation to stop the crime of aggression against Ukraine by withdrawing units of the Russian Armed Forces and other illegal military formations controlled by the aggressor state, and to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
The parliament also calls on the G20 to condemn terrorist actions by Russia aimed at the destruction of the Ukrainian state, genocide of the Ukrainian people, destabilization of the energy system and global food security.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada appeals for support for the aspiration of Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations to continue the Black Sea Grain Initiative to ensure unhindered food supplies to countries whose populations are suffering from hunger.
At the same time, the Ukrainian parliament demands increased sanctions pressure on Russia in order to stop the war and the global world crisis created by the aggressor state, as well as to restore the international legal order based on mutual respect and cooperation, and not on nuclear or any other blackmail, coercion and use of force.
At the same time, the parliament calls for a significant increase in economic, financial and security assistance to Ukraine, which will make it possible to speed up the country's victory in the defensive war against Russia and restore peace, stability and security in the world.
The G20 summit is taking place on the island of Bali in Indonesia on November 15-16.
