European Parliament recognizes Russia as state sponsor of terrorism
The European Parliament has adopted a resolution recognizing the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
The vote took place in Strasbourg on November 23 during a plenary session of the European Parliament, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
A total of 494 MEPs voted in favor of the resolution, 58 voted against the document, and 44 politicians abstained.
The main provisions of the resolution recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism were agreed upon the day before at the level of heads of political groups of the European Parliament.
“[The European Parliament] expresses its unreserved outrage at and condemnation of these attacks and atrocities and the other acts that Russia has committed in pursuit of its destructive political aims in Ukraine and on the territory of other countries; in the light of the above, recognizes Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and as a state which uses means of terrorism,” the document reads.
