Lithuania’s Government approves EUR 13M guarantee for EU aid to Ukraine

The Government of Lithuania approved on Wednesday a EUR 13 million guarantee to back the European Commission's aid to Ukraine.

“Finance Minister Gintare Skaiste will now sign an agreement with the Commission on a guarantee of 12.97 million euros for exceptional macro-financial assistance to Ukraine,” Delfi reports.

The Decision of the European Parliament and the Council provides for the EU's exceptional assistance to Ukraine to help stabilize the country's financial situation, strengthen its resilience, contribute to the sustainability of its public debt and its ability to repay its financial obligations.

The common provisioning fund is being reinforced by guarantees by member states and by specific provisioning for some financial liabilities. Lithuania's share of the overall guaranteed amount stands at 12.97 million euros.
