EU has shipped more than 77,000 tonnes of aid to Ukraine since Feb – von der Leyen
Since February, the European Union has shipped more than 77,000 tonnes of in-kind assistance to Ukraine, and Europe's solidarity is only growing stronger.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reported this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.
"Since February, the EU has shipped over 77,000 tonnes of in-kind assistance to Ukraine. This includes life-saving supplies such as medicine, food, shelter items. As well as fire-fighting vehicles and mobile hospitals. Europe's solidarity with Ukraine is only growing stronger," she wrote.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, EU countries have taken in millions of Ukrainian refugees. The EU allocated more than EUR 19 billion in aid to Ukraine this year and agreed to provide EUR 18 billion in macro-financial assistance (MFA+) in 2023.
When the Russian army began to carry out targeted strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, EU countries launched deliveries to Ukraine of generators, transformers for the restoration of destroyed power grids, and basic necessities for the population.
