Orban's statements a sign of his pathological contempt for Ukraine - MFA

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's statements demonstrate his pathological contempt for Ukraine, which is resisting Russian aggression, as well as his own political short-sightedness.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said this in a comment regarding remarks made by the Hungarian prime minister, Ukrinform reports.

"Statements by the prime minister of Hungary demonstrate his pathological contempt for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, who are resisting Russian aggression, as well as his own political short-sightedness. After all, the defeat of Ukraine in the war, which Viktor Orban is indirectly calling for, would lead to a direct threat of Russian aggression for Hungary and Hungarians," the ministry said.

It added that the Hungarian leader should ask himself whether he wants peace.

"If the answer is in the affirmative, he needs to use his close ties with Moscow so that it stops aggression against Ukraine and withdraws its troops," the ministry said.

Orban in an interview with media outlets confirmed the country's position that a ceasefire is necessary in the war, followed by peace negotiations, and stated that Ukraine can continue fighting only as long as the United States supports it with money and weapons.
