President of European Council arrives in Kyiv
President of the European Council Charles Michel has arrived in Kyiv, where he will meet with the Ukrainian leadership.
“Back in Kyiv to discuss all strands of cooperation. May 2023 be the year of victory and peace,” he wrote on Twitter, publishing photos from Kyiv’s railway station.
He also visited veterans in the rehabilitation center in Kyiv.
“Impressed by the veterans’ courage at the EU-funded rehabilitation center in Kyiv. Ukraine is unbreakable,” the European Council president wrote.
As expected, Michel will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Ukrainian MPs.
As reported by Ukrinform, the President of the European Council in Strasbourg stated that the European Union should continue to support Ukraine by supplying the necessary military equipment, including tanks.
Over the past year, the European Union allocated EUR 19 billion in aid to Ukraine. On January 17, the European Commission disbursed a first instalment of EUR 3 billion of the up to EUR 18 billion Macro-financial Assistance+ (MFA+) package for Ukraine.
