The President's Office held a briefing for a delegation of United States senators regarding the situation at the front and the needs of the Ukrainian Army.
The briefing was organized by the Office chief, Andriy Yermak, the press service of the head of state reports.
Senator Lindsey Graham (GOP), Senators Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse (DEM), and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink attended the meeting.
"I am glad to welcome you again to the President’s Office. Today you will hear information directly from the front, which is very important in the context of understanding the current situation," Yermak said.
He thanked the senators for supporting Ukraine in the most critical moments.
It is noted that during the meeting, the senators were updated on Ukraine’s resistance to the Russian full-scale invasion.
According to the President’s Office, Ukrainian intelligence officials and commanders of military groups informed the American delegation about the situation around the borders of Ukraine and the assessment of prospects for further actions of Russian troops, the situation on the eastern front, and the effectiveness air defenses. The senators were also briefed on the needs of defense forces to improve their effectiveness, in particular regarding protection against enemy airstrikes.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of protection of critical infrastructure facilities, among other technologically vulnerable sites.
"We are concerned that these attacks will continue. You know that some came on New Year's holidays, in particular on New Year's Eve. About 200 missiles and drones were launched then. They will not stop," said the head of the President’s Office.
He also emphasized the importance of air defenses because after such strikes, millions are left without electricity, sometimes without water, for several days, even though the relevant services, in particular Ukrenergo, are working around the clock to restore power supplies to households as quickly as possible.
As reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham, Richard Blumenthal, and Sheldon Whitehouse, who are visiting Kyiv.
