Yermak urges UK to focus on sanctions against Russian propagandists and military

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a telephone call with Director General for Economics, Science and Technology at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the United Kingdom Kumar Iyer, stressing the need to increase sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, especially Russian propagandists and military personnel who participated in the war and their family members.

“The Head of the President's Office said that one of the important areas today is the imposition of restrictive measures on Russian propagandists and well-known public figures who justify the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine and at the same time have assets and real estate in Western countries, organize various events in these countries and participate in them. Visa restrictions are also needed for Russian military personnel who participated in the war against Ukraine and their family members,” the President’s Office informs.

Yermak said that Russia's war against Ukraine does not stop, heavy fighting continues in the east of Ukraine, and yesterday our country suffered another missile attack launched by the aggressor, therefore it is necessary to increase pressure on the Russian Federation, in particular sanctions.

The Head of the President's Office thanked the UK for being one of the leaders in the issue of sanctions.

He briefed Iyer on the initiative to hold a sanctions summit in Ukraine soon with the participation of representatives of partner countries to analyze what has already been done and discuss the next steps.

According to him, the Yermak-McFaul International Working Group continues to work on recommendations for new sanctions against Russia.

Iyer said that the United Kingdom is committed to actively working to find ways to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of the sanctions policy against the Russian Federation, and expressed readiness to consider all relevant proposals.
