Decision on severance of diplomatic relations with Iran will depend on its behavior - Kuleba

The decision to sever diplomatic relations with Iran can be made at any time, depending on Tehran's further behavior.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with BBC News Ukrainian, Ukrinform reports.

"You know that I submitted such a proposal for consideration by the president. This issue is completely open. The decision can be taken at any time depending on the further behavior of Iran," Kuleba said.

He added that he did not know who hit military infrastructure in Iran. "We have historically done nothing wrong to Iran. They began to supply combat kamikaze drones to Russia. They crossed the line," Kuleba said.

The minister also called the attacks a signal that "no matter how profitable you think cooperation with Russia against Ukraine is, we assure you that the negative consequences of this cooperation will significantly exceed any benefit."

On January 29, the Iranian Defense Ministry announced a drone attack on a defense plant in the city of Isfahan in the central part of the country.

In October 2022, Kuleba submitted to President Volodymyr Zelensky a proposal to sever diplomatic relations with Iran. This decision was made in view of the use of Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones in the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
