On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the newly elected President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and expressed hope for the support of the Czech Republic during the NATO Summit in Vilnius.

The relevant statement was made by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, I met with the newly elected President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel. I thanked the Czech Republic for its political decisions regarding Ukraine. First of all, for the recognition of the Russian regime as terrorist by the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and the declaration of the 1932-1933 Holodomor as the genocide against the Ukrainian people by both houses of the Parliament,” Stefanchuk wrote.

In his words, Ukraine highly appreciates the military support that the Czech Republic began to provide immediately as the full-scale war started.

“Today, at the Security Forum, we frankly say that Ukraine’s victory depends not only on the quality of aid but also on the speed of necessary arms supplies,” Stefanchuk noted.

According to Stefanchuk, progress towards joining NATO is a critical security matter for Ukraine.

“I very much count on the support of the Czech Republic during the NATO Summit in Vilnius and its support of Ukraine’s aspiration to become a full member of the EU,” Stefanchuk stressed.

Additionally, Stefanchuk drew attention to the Peace Formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, noting that providing official support for this initiative, namely from the Czech Republic, is important to Ukraine.
