Defense cooperation, Euro-Atlantic integration: Yermak meets with Polish delegation

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak held a meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Poland, during which the parties discussed defense cooperation, Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration, and Poland’s participation in the reconstruction of our country.

“Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak met with the delegation of the Republic of Poland, which included Secretary of State – Head of the International Policy Bureau at the Presidential Chancellery of the Republic of Poland Marcin Przydacz, Minister for the European Union of the Republic of Poland Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk and Minister-Member of the Council of Ministers of Poland Michał Dworczyk,” the President’s Office informs.

Yermak briefed the Polish side on the situation at the front and thanked for Poland's significant defense support, in particular for its leadership role in creating a tank coalition. The parties discussed further strengthening of defense cooperation between Ukraine and Poland.

The Head of the Office of the President emphasized that one of the most difficult problems caused by the full-scale aggression of Russia was the mass abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia. In this context, the President welcomed Poland's intention to launch a joint initiative with the European Commission to join forces, collect evidence, identify ways to find abducted children and bring to justice those responsible for this crime.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of Ukraine's European integration and coordination of joint efforts between Kyiv and Warsaw to advance our country on the path to EU membership. Yermak noted that Ukraine is finalizing the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations on the status of a candidate for EU membership. He also emphasized that our country's priority is to start negotiations on EU membership by the end of this year.

The Head of the President's Office thanked the high-ranking representatives of the Republic of Poland for their country’s participation in the restoration of the territories liberated from the invaders. In this context, the parties discussed specific projects in which Warsaw is ready to be one of the leaders.

During the talks, a schedule of high-level contacts for the near future was coordinated.
