China agrees nuclear arms must be off table in "conflict in Ukraine" - Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron said he had discussed during today’s meeting with China’s leader Xi Jinping the "war in Ukraine," agreeing that nuclear weapons should be excluded from the conflict.
This was reported by The Guardian with reference to the joint press conference of the two leaders, Ukrinform saw.
Macron also emphasized that the European security architecture was “not possible” as long as Ukraine is occupied.
The Chinese president, for his part, said China sought to avoid "escalation in Ukraine," and called for the speedy resumption of peace talks to resolve the "crisis in Ukraine."
As Ukrinform reported earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, before the start of negotiations with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, called on the China leader to influence Russia and help end the war in Ukraine.
