Blinken comments on possibility of his visit to China

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he is looking forward to visiting China, which was postponed earlier due to another deterioration in relations.

He said this on Tuesday during a press conference at the US State Department, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"When it comes to my visit to China, when the conditions are right, I certainly look forward to making it happen," the head of the US State Department said.

He called relations between the US and China complex and competitive, but significant. In this regard, Blinken emphasized that it is in America's interest to maintain a responsible attitude toward China.

"Our goal is peace, security, stability, and opportunity. And it is not to engage in a new Cold War," the head of American diplomacy said.

At the same time, he said, in pursuit of this goal, the United States aims to continue to defend its values and interests.

As reported by Ukrinform, in February, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was scheduled to visit China, which would have demonstrated the rapprochement between the two countries. Instead, due to the appearance of a Chinese balloon with reconnaissance equipment over the United States and its elimination by a US fighter jet, the US administration decided to postpone the visit of the US Secretary of State.
