Ukraine’s Prosecutor General starts working visit to United States
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin is paying a working visit to the United States.
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Starting his visit, in an interview with Voice of America, Kostin mentioned that bringing Russia to justice is the priority task of the global community in the near future, which remains the focus area of the bilateral dialogue between Ukraine and the United States.
The consolidation of efforts to document and investigate Russian crimes against Ukraine was discussed, as well as building a network of comprehensive accountability for these crimes.
Kostin emphasized that a Special International Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression should be created, which will have jurisdiction over the Russian top military and political leadership. Russia’s aggression is a global war, and the response to the crime of aggression must also be global, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine added.
In his words, it is important to execute the ICC warrant of arrest for Putin over the forced deportation of Ukrainian children, as well compensate for the losses caused by Russia at the expense of Russian private and sovereign assets.
In the course of the visit, Kostin is planning to hold a number of meetings to discuss these issues with American partners.
