China vows to develop partnership with Russia, working to resolve "Ukraine crisis"

China will develop a mutually beneficial strategic partnership with Russia and will continue to work with the international community to find a political solution to the “Ukraine crisis.”

This was stated by the spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, Wang Wenbin, who commented on the issue of Beijing's arguments for strengthening military ties with Moscow against the background of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Regarding Sino-Russian relations, the spokesman noted that China and Russia are "committed to the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of any third party, and are developing a new type of relationship between major powers based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation."

"China is ready to cooperate with Russia... and promote our comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era," Wang said.

Regarding Ukraine, he emphasized China's "consistent and clear position": "We are firmly committed to promoting peace negotiations and will continue to work with the international community to play a constructive role in the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis."

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with a member of China’s State Council of China, Minister of Defense Li Shanfu during the latter’s visit to Russia, and praised the cooperation between the Russian Federation and China "along the lines of military agencies."
