II Parliamentary Summit of Crimea Platform to be held in Prague in October - Stefanchuk
The second parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform will be held tentatively in late October in the Czech capital, Prague.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"This summit is expected to take place in late October this year. We must make it no less important and visible in the world than the first one," the speaker said.
According to him, the countries that will be invited to participate in the summit are currently being identified. Stefanchuk expressed confidence that this year's number of participants would be higher.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also informed that the participants will include witnesses to the events in Crimea.
In addition, Ukrainian parliamentarians are discussing with representatives of the participating states the creation of special inter-factional groups in their parliaments that will organize the event. According to Stefanchuk, such groups have already been established in the parliaments of some Baltic countries.
"Parliamentary support for the de-occupation of Crimea is very important for us. We are doing everything possible to make the Ukrainian flag fly over Ai-Petri," the speaker emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported, the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform was held in October 2022 in Zagreb, Croatia. Delegations from more than 50 countries and institutions were invited to participate in the event.
The summit participants adopted a joint declaration in which, among other things, they condemned serious and systematic human rights violations and abuses on the Crimean peninsula.
