Zelensky: Global initiative launched to restrict Russian nuclear industry
It is very important for Ukraine that the global restrictive efforts targeting Russia’s nuclear industry have begun. After all, this is exactly the segment that generates funds for the aggressor's budget and gets weaponized by making other states dependent.
The head of state spoke of the issue in a video address on Saturday, reports Ukrinform.
"It is important that the global restrictive work on the Russian nuclear industry has begun. This industry not only generates funds for the aggressor’s budget but also helps them to make other states dependent. These are the states where ‘energy’ nuclear projects are being implemented. Any energy is a weapon for the Kremlin. For them, nuclear energy is also a weapon," president noted.
The leader recalled that the Russians exploit the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant as a weapon to blackmail the world, and therefore "it is great that Britain, U.S., France, Japan, and Canada formed an alliance that should remove the nuclear industry of the terrorist state from the global market."
"We are preparing for making the next week in relations with partners no less productive than this one. Each such result for Ukraine means more saved lives of our people. This is the ability of our soldiers to protect lives, repel Russian assaults, and prepare Ukrainian actions," Zelensky added.
As reported, on April 22, three new sanctions decisions against those who invest in and support Russian aggression entered into force. First of all, this is another package targeting Russia’s military industry – enterprises providing for the terrorist army. To this list, 322 companies were added: manufacturers of weapons, components, and the like.
The other two sanctioned lists include individuals and legal entities that help Russia circumvent sanctions, hold the property of war criminals, and are involved in destroying freedom in both Russia and Ukraine.
