Stefanchuk calls on Cyprus to join creation of special tribunal to prosecute Russia

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus Annita Demetriou and called on her country to join the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

As Stefanchuk posted on Facebook, he also invited his colleague to visit Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada Chairman believes that this will contribute to the intensification of the inter-parliamentary dialogue between the countries.

"I called on the Parliament of Cyprus to recognize present-day Russian crimes against Ukrainians and the Holodomor of 1932-33 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people," Stefanchuk added.

In addition, he focused on the issue of sanctions against the Russian Federation, especially against Russian nuclear energy and Rosatom corporation. The issue of justice was raised also.

"It is very important not only to win on the battlefield but also to bring the Russian Federation to justice for the crimes committed in Ukraine. I called on Cyprus to join the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine," Stefanchuk emphasized.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada heard from his colleague the words of support for Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

As reported, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk arrived in Prague to participate in the Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments.
