The relevant statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Instagram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I welcome President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel to Ukraine! Thank you for this visit, which began in Bucha and Borodyanka. We appreciate the support of the Czech Republic, the Czech government and the entire society from the first day of the full-scale invasion,” Zelensky wrote.

In the course of the meeting, Pavel assured the Ukrainian side that the Czech Republic would push for Ukraine’s EU accession talks to start as soon as this year.

“For us, Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO is not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. I have assured President Zelensky that the Czech Republic will be a voice reminding everyone and everywhere that Ukraine deserves to become a full-fledged member of the family of democratic countries. I will push for accession talks with the EU to start before the end of the year,” the President of the Czech Republic noted on Twitter.
