Kuleba: MFA finds almost 30 strong candidates for ambassadors
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has found almost 30 very strong candidates as a result of the open selection process of ambassadors.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba wrote this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"We have found almost thirty very strong candidates for ambassadorship. They are now passing tests and receiving invitations to interviews from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' HR service. Those who pass this stage will have a security check and an interview with me. After that, I will form a final list of candidates and propose to the President to consider these candidates," he said.
According to Kuleba, this revolution was worth starting if the Foreign Ministry found more than 50 new motivated diplomats from the ambassador and down the chain of command out of a thousand applications.
According to the minister, the attention of the media and social media users has focused mostly on finding people from outside, but openness and equality reform also creates career elevators and new opportunities for current diplomats. Open recruitment was and remains open to people within the system who, for one reason or another, could not get on the minister's radar. As the preliminary results show, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received many such applications, the head of the ministry emphasized.
Kuleba noted that diplomacy has always been rather closed. The movement towards openness began in 2014 and a lot has been accomplished. "Today, the war requires bringing these efforts to a new level to man up diplomatic forces. In addition, we are actively expanding our diplomatic horizons and opening new embassies in Africa and Latin America. Therefore, the need for new motivated, professional, patriotic candidates from within and outside the system has increased. If we only stick to the old rules, we will not be able to meet this need," he emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported, in March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced an open call for the first time in the history of Ukrainian diplomacy to fill the vacancies of Ukrainian ambassadors to 21 countries.
