Zelensky to attend G7 summit in Hiroshima in person - Danilov

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to travel to Hiroshima, Japan, this weekend to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit in person.

That's according to Reuters, which quotes Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, as saying, Ukrinform reports.

According to the report, the Ukrainian president is expected to arrive in Japan on Saturday evening.

"Very important things will be decided there, and therefore Zelensky's attendance is absolutely essential in order to defend our interests," Danilov said.

Leaders of the world's rich democracies are expected to announce new sanctions against Russia and closer collaboration in countering China's growing influence.
