Zelensky, Sunak meet in Japan
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as part of his visit to Japan.
This was announced on the website of Zelensky’s Office, Ukrinform saw.
"As part of a working visit to Japan to participate in the G7 Summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak," statement reads.
The head of state thanked the Prime Minister for the UK leadership in the international “fighter jet coalition.”
The parties discussed the further implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the President of Ukraine to Britain, which took place on May 14.
Zelensky and Sunak “exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom and coordinated their positions on the eve of the participation of the Ukrainian Head of State in the G7 Summit.”
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky will personally attend the meeting of the Group of Seven leaders in Hiroshima on Sunday, May 21, as part of the G7 summit.
This is Zelensky's first trip to Japan, the host country of the G7 summit, since the start of Russia's war against Ukraine in February last year.
The Japanese government reported that the Ukrainian President also planned to hold bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
