Zelensky’s Saudi Arabia visit “historic” - Office Head
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia points to a new strategic level of relations between the two countries.
That’s according to Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office, who spoke at the national telethon, reports Ukrinform.
"I believe that President Zelensky’s visit to Saudi Arabia was historic. ...We can state a new strategic level of relations between Saudi Arabia and Ukraine," Yermak said.
He noted that in the last 31 years, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia once visited Ukraine.
Yermak recalled that on May 21, President Zelensky also delivered a speech at the League of Arab States, attended by 22 delegations.
"In the President's address, there were powerful words about the human rights situation in occupied Crimea and what Ukraine is fighting for," Yermak said. He added that the speech was rather powerful as some things mentioned were not too pleasant to some of those present. However, the attendees did listen to the speech and most of the delegations received the address positively. After that, Zelensky held meetings with officials from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq, and Oman.
"It will be really important for us that this meeting and speech took place. It sent a very powerful signal that today, Ukraine occupies a leading position in various regions. In various regions, people hear what is happening, hear about the war, the values for which we are fighting, and the fact that we will prevail, and this is very important because the unification of all civilized nations around Ukraine is the key to our victory," Yermak said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on May 19, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine visited Saudi Arabia.
