Ukraine's victory will change entire security architecture in Europe - Kubilius

Ukraine's victory in the war that Russia started will be the most important factor for the future of Europe and its security architecture.

Lithuania's former Prime Minister and MEP Andrius Kubilius said this at the Kyiv Security Forum, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Ukraine's victory in the war being waged by authoritarian Russia is a strategic factor that can change the whole structure of security in the eastern part of the European continent and the whole of Europe. [...] This is the most important factor for the future of the European continent and for the return of sustainable peace to the European continent," the politician said.

In his opinion, this can be achieved "only if Ukraine does not stay in the 'gray zone,' if Ukraine is invited to become a member of NATO during the Vilnius summit, and if Ukraine becomes a really successful country with its integration towards the EU."

"That will change a lot of things, including possible transformations in Russia," he said.

The 15th Annual Kyiv Security Forum entitled "For Our Freedom and Yours / Fighting for NATO" is taking place on May 25-26. The central theme of the Forum is Ukraine's gaining membership of NATO. Prominent international public figures, experts in international relations and security issues, diplomats, journalists and civil rights activists are participating in the Forum.
