Hungary has to stop provocations: MFA responds to video with map of Ukraine without Crimea

Ukraine's Charge d'Affaires in Hungary made an official demarche to the Hungarian side over a video with a map of Ukraine that does not show Crimea as Ukrainian territory.

That's according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

The foreign ministry informed that the video with the incorrect map of Ukraine was published on May 30 on the YouTube channel of the Hungarian government.

"On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine in Hungary made an official demarche to the Hungarian side," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the designation of the Crimean peninsula as a territory that is not part of Ukraine "contradicts the repeatedly declared stance by the official Budapest on the support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders".

Ukrainian diplomats emphasize that Hungary must "has to stop the provocations and adhere to the international obligations undertaken within the framework of membership in the UN, the EU and NATO".

"Playing along with the aggressive policy of Russia does not contribute to the prompt restoration of peace in Europe, which the Hungarian government advocates in public," the Foreign Ministry said.

As reported, earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an interview called for a ceasefire and peace talks between Ukraine and Russia before the Ukrainian counteroffensive, arguing that the attacking side suffers three times more losses than the defending side.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, in turn, called on Orban to demand that Moscow end the war and return its army to Russian territory.
