Kostin discusses investigation into Kakhovka HPP explosion with U.S. Embassy representatives
Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin discussed the progress of the investigation into Russia’s explosion at the Kakhovka HPP with representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
“The Prosecutor General's Office started an investigation into the explosion at the Kakhovka HPP dam immediately after the crime was committed and promptly submitted all the necessary information to the International Criminal Court,” the Prosecutor General's Office posted on Telegram.
During the meeting, Kostin informed U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Christopher Smith, Legal Adviser Jasmine Lopez, and Program Manager Olena Kustova about it.
"At a time when the Russian criminal regime is once again showing blatant disregard for human life and international law, we are doing everything possible to strengthen the protection of human rights in Ukraine," Kostin said.
The interlocutors discussed potential ways of cooperation in this area.
The Prosecutor General reported that the Coordination Center for Support for Victims and Witnesses has already been established. Work is ongoing to ensure that it starts full-fledged work as soon as possible.
"We will be very grateful to our American partners for the assistance in building its institutional potential," the Prosecutor General added.
