U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier said that the United States was closely monitoring the situation between Russia and Belarus after President Vladimir Putin claimed on June 16 that Moscow has deployed tactical nuclear weapons to the neighboring country.

Putin said at a meeting with self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Sochi that tactical nuclear weapons would be delivered to Belarus after July 7-8.

At the same time, Lukashenko claimed that tactical nuclear weapons had started arriving in Belarus.
