Ukraine's progress on path towards EU: Zelensky expects interim assessment this week
Volodymyr Zelensky expects the announcement of an interim verbal assessment of Ukraine's progress in implementing the recommendations of the European Commission regarding European integration this week.
“Together with President von der Leyen, we discussed further financial support for Ukraine on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in London on June 21-22 and prospects for the adoption of the 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia,” Zelensky posted on Twitter following a phone call with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The President also looks forward to the announcement of the interim verbal assessment of Ukraine's progress in implementing the European Commission's recommendations this week.
As reported, Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will be held in London on June 21, will consider the continuation of financial assistance to Ukraine after 2023.
On February 28, 2022, Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine's membership in the European Union. On June 23, the heads of state and government of the European Union adopted a decision to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership.
On February 28, 2023, Zelensky said that it’s time to make a decision on the start of negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership this year.
