PM Rutte: Russia’s war can only have one outcome - Ukraine’s victory

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte mentioned the war launched by Russia against Ukraine during a speech on the occasion of Veterans Day, which is traditionally marked in the country on the last Saturday of June.

"Never since the end of the Second World War has peace in Europe been under such threat as it is now," Rutte said.

According to the government head, it has long been unfathomable for another war to be unleashed on the European continent.

"As a society, we felt so safe that we thought, perhaps, less focus could be put on defense. We were wrong," the head of the Dutch government admitted.

He noted that amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, the importance of a well-equipped armed force has never been more apparent.

The prime minister thanked the Dutch military, which makes an important contribution to peace, freedom, and security in many countries. In particular, Dutch soldiers participate in the training of the Ukrainian forces "so that they can influence this horrific war, which can have only one outcome: that Ukraine wins, and your Ukrainian counterparts succeed."

As reported, Dutch instructors in Germany take part in training Ukrainian recruits.

In addition, the Netherlands, together with Denmark, plans to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets as early as this summer and will create a training center in the territory of one of NATO’s member states in Eastern Europe.
