Ukrainian Parliament adopts appeal to participants of NATO Summit in Vilnius
The Verkhovna Rada has adopted an appeal to the participants of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, which will take place on July 11.
Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zhelezniak said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
According to Zhelezniak, 279 MPs voted to approve draft resolution No. 9430.
The main purpose of the appeal is a call for NATO member states to commit to providing guarantees of Ukraine's full membership in the Alliance and to provide a mechanism for inviting it to NATO.
The summit participants are invited to support President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula aimed at establishing a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in Ukraine for global security, as well as to establish a mechanism for crisis consultations with Ukraine based on the principles of Article 4 of the Washington Treaty to hold consultations in case of a threat to the territorial integrity, political independence or security of Ukraine or any NATO member state.
Ukrainian parliamentarians emphasize the successes on the path of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and the compatibility of Ukraine's military standards with NATO standards.
The summit participants are urged to recognize the inexpediency of Ukraine's completion of the NATO Membership Action Plan and to make a strategic decision in Vilnius to invite Ukraine to join NATO.
As Ukrinform reported, the NATO summit will be held in Vilnius on July 11-12, 2023.
